4th of July at Casa Idema

Jen and Matt invited the gang over for Independence Day festivities. The guys, including Ty, were demonstrating their athletic prowess. I’m thinking Intramural B at best.

This was also the welcoming party for the Jordans. Aimee, Jason and the girls had just stepped off the plane from Chicago that morning as they relocated to Burlingame. This was the first time the girls had stepped foot in California. This brings the total to five guys from the house that live in the neighborhood. Matt and Jason actually lived next door to me in the house for a year, when more than a few shenanigans ensued. Like the time with the time I put a rotting, dead 6-foot python in their room… That’s a story for another time. What few may know is that Jason (affectionately known as “Yo Yo”) lived on my hall in the residence hall, where we had many good times.

Posse made ribs on the BGE and Matt smoked pulled pork. The spread was everthing that is great about America. The kids had a great time swimming and Olivia is thankfully showing some progress on that front.

We took the kids home for a bath and PJs. After their first book was read, we (I) decided they needed to see some fireworks, so we drove down to Foster City as it was getting dark. Lucas fell asleep after a day of playing hard, so we just found a place to park with a vantage of some fireworks in the distance. It was just enough to say we did it. We caught the finale while stuck in traffic on the way home, which was perfect.

It was later revealed that Grace (who administered the bath), did not remember giving the kids a bath. She obviously had a day of playing hard, too. Happy 4th of July!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the fountain wasn’t working because they ran out of Cristal.
