On Wednesday morning, we went on a Gazelle field trip to Roaring Camp to ride a real steam train. Clara, Mike and Alex picked up me and Olivia. It was Mike's birthday, which I happened to mention to Teacher Gloria. At lunch, Teacher Jon led the group in a chorus of "Happy Birthday" and all the kids gave him a hug.
It was a beautiful day as was the scenery in the mountains. Afterwards, we continued down to Santa Cruz for a bit. The kids had fun playing in the arcade on the Boardwalk. Great day.
Thanks to the Moons for the ride. Happy birthday, Mike!
Grace was "hosting" playgroup at Washington Park for the BMC crew, which turned out to be more of a play-date with the Moons - twice in one weekend (happy 9th anniversary on Saturday, btw). We had bagels and refreshments at the park. There was also an "Art in the Park" going on, but we didn't check it out. We ended up on "the Ave." Lucas got us kicked out of the Apple Store with his shenanigans. Olivia enjoyed a frozen yogurt treat at tuttimelon before heading home.
On Friday, June 11th, we resumed our Friday night dinner/playdates at Clara and Mike's house. The kids had fun playing and sharing. Abbu has been sequestered during most of our recent visits. Thankfully, he was out and about, because Lucas loves him. Olivia, not so much. Mike arrived home just as we were leaving.
Both Mike and Grace were away on business and arriving late on Friday. Clara was nice enough to invite us over for dinner on Friday, which is our usual Friday ritual. Even though we were outmanned 2-to-1, everyone survived. Olivia is still learning the art of sharing, especially things that don't even belong to her. Clara was, as always, the gracious host, right down to the ice cream dessert. Thanks for having us over!
Clara and Mike hosted Nicholas' Dol at Yank Sing in the Rincon Center. He chose the calculator, which Mike says means he'll be a VC. Happy birthday, Nicholas!
(did a little post-party shopping in Union Square afterwards).
