Moon’s Going Away Party

by

Clara and Mike have been our good buddies since Olivia and Alex were babies. My cousin was trying to get us to meet, and coincidentally Grace and Clara ended up in the same BMC mom group, along with a bunch of our (now) old friends.

There has been many years of talk on their part of moving to Marin and now it is sadly actually happening. House is sold. New house on the water secured. Boys excited. We’re bummed, but excited for their new adventure.

Aside from the BMC, the boys, Olivia and Lucas all went to the same preschool. On Sunday, July 21st, Grace invited BMC families, Gazelle families and some of the Moons’ friends over for a going away party. Grace is normally the hostess with the mostess, but this time she really went all out.

Mind you, I was just finishing 72 holes of golf in 3 days, so I was really no help with this at all. I showed up, fired up the grill, and cooked 6 Fred Steaks. Grace also had killer lobster rolls on the menu, along with many sides in her take of a “clam bake,” though no clams were harmed for this party.

I could sense a bit of stress when she realized how many people were expected to come. Thus, rentals and a jumpy for the kids were called in. It turned out to be a managable number. And, like always, there was about three times as much food as necessary, so everyone was forced to take food home. Lucky for me, I had lobster rolls for lunch, dinner, and even breakfast the next several days.

Moons, we’re going to miss being neighbors, but we’ll come visit you in the slums of Tiburon. If you want to be fed, however, you’ll have to come to us.
