Summer Travel: Paris, France – Part 1

by

Grace and I haven’t been to Paris since her 40th birthday extravaganza (so, just a few years ago). This trip was just for showing the kids around. It was a rough start because who knew you need to arrive at the train earlier than a flight?!? We had an extra half day in London due to this misunderstanding, but eventually made it to the City of Light.

It seemed like one whole day was dedicated to the Eiffel Tower, even if we didn’t go up it. We went back to L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Saint-Germain where we celebrated Grace’s 40th. Lucas has not been the most adventurous eater, but since his recent trip to Japan, he’s been more open to trying things. A major advancement was that we all had the tasting menu, which was excellent. After dinner we went to the Palais de Chaillot to view the Eiffel Tower lights.

The next day, we took a lunch cruise on the Seine, which was a great way to see the city (i.e., 3-course meal and air conditioned). It wasn’t an actual tour with commentary, so the kids had to get that from Grace. We had late afternoon tickets for a short tour of the Louvre, followed by dinner nearby.

Paris is definitely a different vibe from London, which the kids can appreciate.
