Marty’s Bachelor Party

by

On Friday, June 10th, I met Dukes at SFO to head to Las Vegas for Marty’s bachelor party. Marty is very nearly the last man standing, so this was a highly anticipated event. Some attendees (including Marty) had arrived in Vegas as early as Wednesday, so damage had already been done by the time we arrived. A couple guys (the smart ones) left before the weekend shenanigans ensued.

The event was held at The Cosmopolitan Hotel, which I had scouted back in March. I ended up with no roommate, so I kindly asked for a room more suitable for myself, which turned out to be a very nice one-bedroom suite. Good start. We spent Friday in a cabana at the Boulevard Pool, which turned out to be for old guys like us. It was only at the end of the day when we toured the Marquee pool did we realize we had been relegated to the geriatric ward, as the Marquee was filled with much younger, cooler kids. Dinner Friday evening was at Blue Ribbon Sushi – excellent. We returned to the Marquee afterwards, which transformed from a day club to a night club and was filled with even more younger, cooler kids.

Saturday, we reserved a day bed next to the pool at the Marquee. Greg was the only person there at 10am (not just of our group, but in the entire hotel). The scene quickly came to life and didn’t peak until the late afternoon. There were too many funny moments to note, but the experience restored my faith in all that is great about America. Saturday evening, we went off the reservation to have dinner at Texas de Brazil. A delicious meal of meat, meat and meat was served.

Sunday morning was spent trying to recall what had happened on Saturday. I’ve never been to the airport 2 hours early in Vegas before. All I can say is that it was time to go.

This was one of my favorite trips to Las Vegas. We got to spend some quality time with the guys throughout the weekend catching up and showing Marty a great time. Special thanks to Jeff, and especially Greg, who made all the arrangements. It was an amazing event with great friends.
