After Freg Segal, we went over to The Grove to meet Laura, Chris & Cooper who were staying in Santa Monica and heading out to explore LA. We had intentions of joining them in Hollywood, but Olivia was too excited about her Hello Kitty watercolors and wanted to go home to paint immediately. We missed Lucas so were happy to go home and see him.

I already posted a bit real time and from Cindy and Jay's wedding, but there were other highlights from the trip:
- Olivia and I had some nice father daughter time on Thursday night when Grace and Lucas were already in LA. It was the first time the kids had been apart. We had fun at the airport and on the plane. She was a great travel buddy.
- After getting in on Friday, I went to get the kids and myself dressed. Grace said pick her up between 6:00 and 6:15pm in Century City. She walked out at 6:50pm while this was going on in the car. Good times already!
- Uncle Dave could not care less about cars, but somehow we ended up at Beverly Hills Porsche. While he shopped, Olivia and I just played around. She has this strange obsession with green cars and they had the greenest Cayman S. Eventually, she gravitated to some more serious rides. I'm sure the sales people were thrilled to have her bouncing around their $159K 2010 911 Turbo. I was relegated to the passenger seat, which was fine. She also liked the GT3, which was also a wise choice but lacked rear seats for her.
- We had a nice lunch at Barney's with Uncle Dave. Service was particularly horrible, however, and after sitting there for a very long time, we got up just as Neil Patrick Harris was walking in with his entourage. Bad timing for us.
- It was rainy on Saturday, which was a bummer for the wedding, but made for some beautiful rainbows on our drive to Pasadena.
- Lucas and I got some father-son time in on Sunday morning on a walk around downtown Westwood.
- We got in some shopping for the kids on Robertson. Kitson for kids is an insanely fun store for them. Lucas got all the goods while Olivia had fun playing with all the toys. She did, however, get to bring home Abby, which almost completes here Sesame Street collection.
- Finally, we met Grace's parents at Chosun Galbee for a nice lunch before heading to the airport.

After Lucas' Dol, we stayed in LA for a couple days. Highlights:
- We all went to go see Dave's new place in Santa Monica. Great bachelor pad - the seller threw in a couple of flat panel tvs among other things. However, 5 levels and no child-proofing did not make for a care-free visit. There was also the furniture issue (or lack thereof), which he solved the next day.
- Sherri, Jen's childhood friend, came to visit us at the hotel with her baby, Henry. It was great to see her and meet the little guy. Sherri was very sweet and brought Olivia a cute gift.
- We did our usual tour of Barney's and the surrounding establishments - bought nothing. Thanks to Dave for a nice lunch at Barney's Greengrass.
- Olivia and I took a walk around Westwood while Grace was at the spa.
- Grace has some residual Starwood status and got us and my parents a couple of suites on the penthouse floor at the W Westwood- all on points. It was nice and everyone enjoyed it.
Excellent trip.

On Saturday, November 28th, we celebrated Lucas' Dol (Korean traditional 1st birthday celebration) with family and friends at Chosun Galbee, in Los Angeles. Lucas' was a trouper wearing his Hanbok (Korean outfit). At almost 3, Olivia is just now fitting into her Hanbok. Both of them were super cute. Thanks to everyone who shared this special occasion with us.
Mom, Dad, Jen, Grace, Olivia, Lucas and I all flew to LAX together on Wednesday, November 25th to spend Thanksgiving with Grace's parents and Charles' family. Flying Virgin out of the International terminal makes a big difference. The short flight was nice and uneventful.

We left for LA early on Wednesday. After an important stop at Peets for coffee, we hit the road. We all drove down there over the holidays, but this was the first long car ride since Lucas was an infant and also since Olivia learned to love running around. For this trip, we decided to break the seal on the rear-seat video. To date, we've been telling Olivia it was broken every time she asked what it was. I had bought and tested various cables to hook up the iPod and iPhone for audio and video, but realized that O could watch her stuff while we listened to our own music. Therefore, we made another important stop at Walmart in Gilroy to get the necessary cable. Walmart is amazing.
We made one other stop for lunch and got down to LA around 3pm. We stopped by Ann and Jeremy's house to drop off some baby clothes for Ann and visit for a bit. It was also nice to see Murphy, though we missed Jeremy. After a quick stop and dinner in Manhattan Beach, we had to get to the airport to pick up Kate, who flew down to meet us. The trip was 12 hours, but we were in the car for only about 8. The kids were great the entire way.
The trip home was more direct. We got a fairly early start. Coincidentally, we happened to exit at the same McDonalds we hit on the way down. I already posted my attempt to watch the PGA Championship from the car. In reality, the internets in California's central valley are not fast enough to stream video (hd or otherwise). I should have just refreshed the leaderboard instead.
Another 8 hours and we were home. The kids did equally great on the way home. Great trip!
