The weekend of March 4th, I traveled to Los Angeles to be with our dear friends, Carol and Federico, for Carol’s father’s funeral. Though I had only met him briefly at their wedding, I was struck by the way he was remembered by his family, particularly by his four daughters, who recalled romantic stories of how their parents had met and touching stories of how he always allowed them to make their own choices in life. Carol and Fede now live in Brazil, so it was wonderful to not only see them, despite the circumstances, but also to meet their handsome son, Sebastian. The last time we saw Carol was at our wedding when she was pregnant. Michele and the Huangs also were there and it was nice to see both Amanda and Sebastian together.
