Vegas Birthday Weekend

by

The regular Vegas crew met up this past weekend.  Thanks to Jen, Prem, Linda, Danny, Jea & Eddie for helping us to celebrate our birthdays and for a wonderful dinner at N9NE.  Also thanks to Kate, our nanny who started last month, for coming out for the weekend with us to help show Olivia and Lucas around.

Our biggest loss over the weekend was Kitty, who has been Olivia’s favorite stuffed animal since birth (even though I’m conditioning her to be a dog person).  Kitty’s nose was chewed and its fur was mangy – regular washings didn’t help this.  I received a call from Grace about midnight on Friday night that Kitty was lost.  I stopped what I was doing (which was probably a good thing), walked over to the Wynn (which is connected, but still a hike) and started combing the area.  I went to the restaurant and then to security, where I had to describe Kitty just as I did above.  At first, I don’t think the security guard took me seriously, but I assured him that it was VERY critical that I find Kitty.  He was on the phone with lost and found for about 15 minutes.  I waited.  Alas, Kitty was not found.  For the next two days, we went back to the restaurant and to both Encore and Wynn security.  I was close to putting up fliers.  Tears were shed (though not by Olivia).  Kitty was gone.

We’ve looked for backup Kittys in the past in anticipation for crisis.  He was not to be found.  Google and Amazon were no help – at first.  Yesterday, through Grace’s tenacity, we believe we found the same Kitty.  With the name, we looked again on Amazon, and the product page showed a picture of a horse.  Weird – as if someone did not want us to find a new Kitty.  We bought 3.  I hope 3 horses don’t show up.  I’ll be chewing its nose for a few weeks before he makes his appearance.

Eddie bought Olivia a Hello Kitty stuffed animal in Vegas, which pretty much made Olivia forget all about Kitty (she’s been into Cookie Monster these days anyway).

Good times.
